The stunning Fairbank Wedding Barn is another favourite venue of ours for Lake District wedding photography. It’s just a 10-minute drive from Windermere and Kendal, so it’s right at the heart of one of the most beautiful places in the world. Fairbank Wedding Barn was renovated in 2020, and they’ve created a venue that makes the most of the natural environment, rustic historic features, and is full of luxurious little touches. Set in 370 acres of countryside on Fairbank Farm, this is a venue for couples who want to create their dream wedding in gorgeous surroundings.
A spacious farmhouse for a relaxed morning
When we joined Jenn and Jacob for their wedding at Fairbank Barn, Janina was immediately obsessed with the space and light in the farmhouse. It is the perfect place to get ready, with loads of room for the hair and makeup team to work their magic, as well as having space to relax and enjoy a sociable breakfast together, cooked on the Aga. You can see why people book multiple days here; it starts to feel like home!

Their ceremony was held in the White Barn, and their dog, Olive, enthusiastically delivered the rings. Dog-friendly venues are always popular with us – the furry kids need to be welcome on your big day! After getting married, the team took us to The Tarn, a magical little mountain lake with endless views of the surrounding scenery. It’s a gorgeous place for Fairbank Barn wedding photography, and it gave Jenn and Jacob a chance to have a few quiet moments together, soaking up the views as husband and wife. We love capturing natural, relaxed photos of couples being themselves; those emotional moments are the ones you’ll want to remember forever.
Celebrating with outdoor speeches at Fairbank Wedding Barn
We returned to the lawns to celebrate with their guests, and to make the most of the location, they had some of their speeches outside – this is something we would recommend doing if you have the chance. The photos of guests enjoying speeches in the sunshine capture the vibe of the day, and everyone was so relaxed and cool in the breeze. We knew some of the guests from a wedding the previous year, so it was great to see some familiar faces.
Food and entertainment at Fairbank Barn can be 100% what you want it to be – they have zero restrictions on suppliers, so you can choose fine dining, traditional grub, vegan and veggie, Asian flavours, or street food vans, and anything in between to treat your guests. You can make your wedding exactly what you want it to be, without having to select from a limited list. We love venues that give couples this freedom!
Making memories on the dancefloor
We love a party – we’re known for staying late, partying hard, and capturing all of the fun of the dancefloor and late-night lock-ins! Jenn and Jacob had a DJ and a saxophonist, who absolutely raised the roof. The dancefloor at Fairbank wedding barn is big enough to get all of your guests up and showing off their best (and worst) moves. It’s where people let their hair down, with old and young celebrating together, making proper memories. That’s why we stay, to capture all of that fun, laughter, and love!

Fairbank Wedding Barn is tucked away in the Lake District countryside close to the village of Staveley. It sits between Windermere and Kendal, both about a ten minute drive away. Staveley has a train station with connections through Oxenholme, which links directly to London and other major cities.
