Holford Estate Knutsford, Cheshire
Firstly, I shoot a lot of weddings every year, but Holford Estate is undeniably one of my favourite Cheshire wedding venues. It is definitely worth shortlisting if you are planning your wedding. This gem of a venue is nestled in 130 acres of Cheshire countryside and has everything you could dream of for a barn wedding with a luxurious feel. Whether you want rolling fields or the manicured gardens, this venue really has it all. I was so excited when Serena and Greg booked me as their Holford Estate Wedding photographer. I have shot so many amazing weddings at this stunning Cheshire wedding venue and I love everything about this character filled venue.
Serena and Greg’s wedding at Holford Estate
However it wasn’t just the venue that got me excited. When Serena and Greg were telling me about their awesome wedding day plans and we were getting to know each other better before their big day, therefore I knew instantly we were going to get along great. Unbeknown to Serena, Greg had attempted four times to organise a romantic proposal. He finally managed to propose on the anniversary of when they met, June 29th, so it was clearly just meant to be. Serena and Greg love the outdoors, love to laugh and love horses so they wanted a relaxed documentary photographer who wasn’t going to make them spend their wedding day posing. We were a perfect fit and when their summer wedding day rolled around, it felt like we were old friends.
Another June 29th, and Serena was up bright and early, surrounded by her bridesmaids and flower girls, all getting ready for the big day. Luckily, I’m a morning person, so me and my second photographer, Jawad were there ready to capture every part of Serena and Greg’s story. Whilst I may be and outdoor lover. I must admit, I fell in love with Serena’s Jimmy Choo wedding shoes. I mean, who can resist Jimmy Choos really? Meanwhile Greg and the groomsmen got to enjoy a slower pace and even managed a cheeky pint at the nearby Red Lion Pub before heading for the ceremony.
A touching wedding ceremony at Holford Estate
As Greg patiently waited at the altar, Serena was arriving in style with a horse drawn carriage. Weddings for me are all about capturing real emotions and their ceremony was overflowing with joy. After the I dos and being showered in confetti, Serena and Greg were whisked away in their horse and carriage, whilst their guests headed over for cocktails and canapes at the reception.
This is where a wedding at Holford Estate comes into its own. Surrounded by 130 acres of beautiful Cheshire countryside and steeped in history dating back to 1119, your guests are truly going to be wowed. The grounds are simply stunning and there are so many places for your friends and family to enjoy, whilst we get some epic portraits. My favourite part though, has to be the stables, where the horses will greet you like an old friend. We managed to get plenty of great shots quickly, so Serena and Greg could get back to celebrating with their guests and a well deserved glass of bubbly or too.
A night to remember at Holford Estate
Serena and Greg certainly made the most of the dramatic dual staircase as they greeted their guests for their wedding breakfast. After delicious food and heartfelt speeches, it was time for a hilarious game of Mr and Mrs and some dancing whilst the band played in the last of the summer sun.
Though Greg’s proposal ideas didn’t go exactly to plan, their wedding was planned to perfection and I loved being part of it. If you are thinking of getting married at Holford Estate and want a fun reportage photographer for your big day, then I’d love to hear all about your plans.
