Froginwell Vineyard has to be one of the most unique wedding venues I’ve worked at. It’s a family run business, complete with orchard (where the apples are grown to make their lovely cider) and of course a vineyard. The Barn has been refurbished and lovingly converted into an airy, light space which is perfect for celebrations. I loved the vaulted ceilings and huge windows. Of course, no blog about Froginwell Vineyardis complete without mentioning the 1903 traction engine that takes pride of place in the Barn. She has been in the family for over 40 years and has experienced many wedding ceremonies. She also looks fab in wedding photos!
It proved to be third time lucky for Hannah and Ben, COVID had forced them to postpone their original plans (and they’d sadly had to change their venue) however as Hannah told me, “Everything happens for a reason and we are so glad we ended up at Froginwell. It was PERFECT!”
Froginwell Vineyard wedding photography – Ben and Hannah
Back in September I took another road trip down to Exeter for Ben and Hannah’s Froginwell Vineyard wedding. I love getting to travel all over the UK – and the world! – for this job. I get to see so many places I wouldn’t normally know about. Froginwell Vineyard is one of those hidden gems, I had no idea it existed – a vineyard and cider barn?! Right up my street!

Frogwell Vineyard and Cider Barn wedding receptions
Following their wedding ceremony at a local church it was time to start the celebrations back at Froginwell! Hannah and Ben had met whilst working at Exeter Airport so had gone for a travel theme for their wedding decor. They’d created an airport check in style table plan, each table was named after a destination and guests were given toy gliders to throw during the speeches. It all looked fab, although I have to agree with Hannah’s top tip to engaged couples:
“Simple and effective decorations are all you need, all your guests will really remember is the food and the party! ”
Wise words indeed! And, true to their word, Hannah and Ben had gone all out on the food and the party. Their wedding breakfast was a proper roast dinner. No fancy small plates or smudges of gravy here, it was all about hearty food, guests carving their own meat and everyone being invited to eat as much as they liked!
After some hilarious speeches it was time to hit the dancefloor and party! To everyone’s surprise Hannah and Ben had a full on routine for their first dance, there were huge cheers as, with a flourish, Ben dipped his new wife and then invited everyone up to join them. Loose Cannons were brilliant and the floor was packed. Later on that night it was time for Hannah and Ben’s second surprise, they jumped onstage with the band, grabbed a sax and a trumpet and played along to one of their favourite songs. The crowd went WILD!
Hannah and Ben, we had the best time with you. We danced and laughed so much, always the sign of an amazing wedding! Here are some of our favourites.
