Huntsham Court Wedding Photographer

As we drove up the winding road towards Huntsham Court in July last year we couldn’t stop smiling, what an incredible venue! It was our honour to be Hunstham court wedding photographer. We met up with Sophie and Llewellyn the day before for their pre-wedding shoot (COVID restrictions had stopped us doing it any sooner) and we’d had such a laugh. We knew their wedding day was going to be full of fun.

Huntsham Court, a Baronial country house on the edge of Exmoor National Park, is an exclusive use venue. This meant that Sophie and Llewellyn were able to completely take over the place, along with all their friends and family. They’d planned a festival style day with colourful flowers, a vintage pizza van, hog roast and lots of music and entertainment. Sadly the weather wasn’t quite what they’d hoped for as the rain started not long after the ceremony. However, as we always say to our couples, you can’t plan the weather. This is the UK after all, so there’s no point worrying. I reassure couples that as long as they are OK to take my lead then we’ll get amazing photos, and Sophie and Llewellyn were more than happy with that!

From a love between two rivals – well, rival Cambridge colleges at least – to a wedding at a stunning Devon venue. This is Sophie and Llewellyn’s amazing wedding day!

I started the day with Sophie. She was enjoying breakfast (and a glass or two of fizz) with her bridesmaids before they all got busy making up the bouquets for the day. Sadly their florist had been able to attend at the last minute but Sophie and Llewellyn had ordered lots of colourful flowers from Bloom and Wild and decided to make their own!

Meanwhile, just across the hall, Llewellyn was getting ready with his groomsmen. They were all laughing and joking as they tried to fix button holes for each other before heading down to greet the guests.

Llewellyn and Sophie had opted for an outdoor ceremony, in The Old Dovecote. This is such a stunning spot in the garden surrounded by trees. After an emotional ceremony they walked back up the aisle as everyone threw confetti. I always love this moment. The couple are so full of joy and everyone is ready to enjoy the rest of the day!

There was a bit of time to have some drinks on the lawn, and a game or two of croquet before the rain started and everyone dashed indoors. It didn’t spoil the fun though, Tom Rose Magic entertained everyone with his incredible card tricks and the Rosewood String Quartet quickly got themselves set up and carried on playing.

Early that evening, just in time for golden hour, the rain stopped! I grabbed Sophie and Llewellyn and we headed outside for some photographs of the two of them.

We always keep my portrait sessions nice and relaxed. Huntsham has amazing gardens so we just went for a short walk as We captured all the little moments between Sophie and Llewellyn. They just don’t stop laughing when they’re together!

Then it was time to party! California Calling started playing and everyone hit the dancefloor! It was an absolutely incredible party, California Calling kept Sophie, Llewellyn and their guests dancing all night. We loved every minute!

If you’re planning your wedding at Huntsham Court and are looking for a documentary wedding photographer then We would love to hear from you.
