London Documentary Wedding Photographer
Jessica and Patrick booked us as their London Documentary wedding photographers based on our portfolio of relaxed, candid photos of weddings across the UK and the world. Having recently been named Best Documentary Wedding Photographer 2023, Janina was super excited that Jessica had seen her award-winning breastfeeding bride photo and wanted this captured on her day too.
The documentary moments we capture tell the story of your wedding day, including moments you might not have seen for yourself. Jessica and Patrick were keen for us to focus on capturing candid photos as their guests relaxed and enjoyed the day, with very little posing or time away from the party. This is what we do best! Having trust and connection with our couples allows us to photograph everything from quiet reflection to wild partying, and all that happens in between!
London wedding photographers
With a very special 2-month-old guest, Jessica and Patrick were getting married and gathering together friends and family from across the world, many of them meeting their new baby for the first time. We joined them as their London wedding photographers for an intimate ceremony and a chilled-out reception at Frederick’s, a contemporary restaurant with a wine cellar, hidden garden and conservatory.
Jessica got ready at home with her bridal party as Nancy Duval Smith perfected her natural, elegant makeup. She had peaceful moments to feed her little one, who was a total dream, happily snoozing throughout the day and providing plenty of newborn snuggles.
“You’ve captured the spirit of the day perfectly and this was exactly what we wanted, there are already so many we want to have printed!”
Jawad spent the morning with Patrick and the boys at the incredible Marriott Renaissance Hotel, the huge rooms and high ceilings provided lots of light and shadow to play with. As they got ready, they sipped drinks and chatted, straightening their ties together in the mirror – we love capturing these relaxed mornings, there’s always a sense of excitement in the air!
The girls travelled in their PJs in a taxi together to finish getting ready at the venue, getting into their dresses as guests started to arrive. Jessica’s Jenny Packham wedding dress was stunning, with a dramatic beaded bodice and cape veil, the perfect balance of relaxed and glam!

As their friends and family arrived, we photographed the smiles and the hugs while the string quartet played. With people arriving from across the world, there were lots of catch-ups and hugs happening as they waited for Jessica to walk down the aisle to Patrick for their traditional ceremony in the conservatory. We captured their London documentary wedding photography in our signature relaxed style, documenting all of the emotions and reactions of their guests as they said their vows.
We focus on the real stuff!
After they were married, everyone gathered in the Club Room for drinks and canapes, spilling out onto the terrace and garden for some more formal group photos very briefly. The majority of our focus was on capturing unposed and relaxed images of everyone celebrating and enjoying the day, but it’s always nice to be able to take a few quick moments to get those shots for the family album.
Later, after their delicious wedding breakfast and some entertaining speeches, we took the newlyweds for a wander outside Frederick’s through Camden Passage. Again, taking just a brief amount of time away from their guests and making sure they both still felt relaxed and calm. The smiles on their faces were SO wonderful all day!
Then after another quick feed for the little VIP, and some final speeches, Jessica and Patrick cut their wedding cake from Lily Vanilli and started off the party with their first dance.
Party time in the city
The evening soundtrack was expertly provided by Wedding Smashers DJ, and the dancefloor was full of fun all night long! Everyone had an amazing time dancing, chatting, and partying together – there were plenty of drinks, hugs, and fabulous moves… and some very sleepy kids (and grown-ups!) by the end of the evening!
