Getting married in London gives you loads of options when it comes to ceremony and reception venues, and for Christie and Jamie that meant having two awesome locations for their reception with a cab ride in between. We joined them as their Old Marylebone Town Hall wedding photographers to capture their ceremony, then stayed with them to document their wedding breakfast at The Italian Greyhound in Marylebone, followed by evening drinks and dancing at Heist Bank

Relaxed and intimate weddings in the capital

Christie and Jamie’s priority for the day was to be able to enjoy celebrating with the people closest to them. Jamie won’t mind us sharing that he’s not the biggest fan of being in front of the camera, so our relaxed style of documentary wedding photography was exactly what they needed. We like to blend in and make everyone feel comfortable to enjoy the day without worrying about posing, while we capture the excitement and emotion without being a distraction.

“They’ve really captured the energy and feeling from the day which is so lovely for us to be able to look back on. Thank you for making it work and keeping us both comfortable with everything.”

Autumnal colours and gorgeous details

Christie and her bridal party got ready with Alyse Baker Artistry perfecting their hair and makeup. It was a chilled and fun morning, and everyone could relax knowing that timing and planning had been taken care of (Christie’s amazing Dad made sure of it!). The autumnal vibes of the day were celebrated in the colour scheme, including luxurious deep shades of green satin dresses for the bridesmaids from Evie Young Bridal.

After an emotional first look with her loved ones, Janina captured some dramatic, artist shots of Christie’s dress as she got into a cab to head to the ceremony. The embroidered leaf embellishments on the dress from Jacqueline Louise Bridal added beautiful texture and detail, which was matched by the lush foliage used in the bouquets and floral arrangements by Larkspur and Lavender

Meanwhile, Jawad joined Jamie and his groomsmen as they arrived at the iconic Old Marylebone Town Hall. The venue has seven options for ceremony rooms, and Christie and Jamie chose the oak-panelled Westminster Room, which felt warm, welcoming and spacious (without feeling too big or too formal). The front of the building is a real focal point for the area, with huge columns, balconies and a staircase that is perfect for epic confetti photos (more on that later!).

We worked together to capture the ceremony from different angles, getting shots of Christie and Jamie’s friends and family smiling and holding hands, and their cute little Page Boy delivering the rings. It was super emotional, and the pair barely took their eyes off each other for the whole ceremony. The benefit of having a photography duo is that our couples can look back and see the love all around the room for them, and moments they might have missed while they were focussed on getting married.

They kissed in front of the huge window and then exited down the art deco staircase as husband and wife, taking a few moments together before walking out of the front door to be covered in the best confetti in the business from Flutter Darlings

We love a confetti shot, and we’ve put together some top tips for you in our article here Flutter Darlings confetti is THE ONE, with big, bright, lightweight discs that look totally amazing in photos! Christie’s sister Robyn was creating a collage of photos, so we made sure we left one of the confetti photos to add to it, using our little Instax printer.

The entrance steps are fab for group photos when capturing Old Marylebone Town Hall wedding photography. We were able to quickly arrange groups without anyone needing to take too much time away from the celebrations, or being forced to pose for more than a couple of moments.

Wedding breakfast at The Italian Greyhound

After clearing most of the confetti from their hair, everyone headed off to The Italian Greyhound for drinks and a tasty wedding breakfast feast. The relaxed and refined private dining area, The Garden Bar, is a bright and neutrally decorated space with loads of light. The French doors open onto the basement garden, and it even has its own cocktail bar. After refuelling with some delicious food, we snuck back in to capture the speeches and all the smiling, laughing, and emotional reactions from the newlyweds and their guests.

Evening reception at Heist Bank

Next, we headed to Heist Bank in Paddington for a fun, vibrant, and relaxed evening party. On the way, we took Christie and Jamie for some informal photos together. Knowing Jamie wasn’t a big fan of posing for the camera, we made sure this was as relaxed and natural as possible (it’s what we do best!). They took a romantic walk together by the water and we photographed from a distance, giving them a little time by themselves to enjoy being Mr and Mrs.

Guests started to arrive at the fashionable evening venue and we captured a couple more group photos before they headed in to get the party started. As people chatted and hugged, and grabbed some of the delicious evening snacks, we were working away unobtrusively capturing everything. Christie and Jamie were so excited to have their loved ones with them, and the party was soon underway with games, dancing, and lots of shots and drinks into the evening. We loved being part of their celebrations.
