Rustic charm, real emotion, and golden retrievers! Captured in relaxed Wyresdale Park wedding photography, by Reportage Studios
Wyresdale Park wedding photography
Set in the beautiful heart of Lancashire (and right on Janina’s doorstep!), Wyresdale Park is a unique venue with three wedding barns under one roof. It’s a versatile, relaxed, and brilliantly run place with a mix of rustic, historical charm and luxury details in a dreamy rural landscape. Whether you get married indoors or out in the stunning grounds, it’s the ideal venue for couples who enjoy nature, the outdoors, and a really good party!
Emily and Jake’s Wyresdale Park wedding
Our awesome outdoorsy couple Emily and Jake brought their two adorable golden retrievers with them on their big day, and they even got ready with Emily and her bridal party. We’d bonded with the couple over a love of dogs, nature, and photography, so we were SO excited to join them as their Wyresdale Park wedding photographers (and friends!).
The venue had been beautifully decorated for their day, with flowers and foliage expertly combined by Gemma from Bluebells and Daisies Florist. Jake looked the part in his green tweed suit in the rustic setting, and the dogs had floral collars to match the bouquets and buttonholes created for their humans. We love dogs at weddings, they always make people smile and it’s so lovely to have the whole family with you, including the ones with four legs and fur!
Getting married at Wyresdale Park
Emily’s elegant Maggie Sottero dress from The Bridal Boutique Baildon had been altered to fit her perfectly by expert seamstress, Betty Lavinia. With her hair and make-up done by Jenna from The Loft, she looked confident, relaxed, and so so happy! Their ceremony in the barn featured their dogs as ring-bearers, carrying little baskets down the aisle (anyone else wondering where the rings would end up if their own dog tried that?!).
One of their readings was a quote of Einstein’s take on love, a unique touch referring to Emily and Jake’s scientific backgrounds, with degrees in Astrophysics and Civil Engineering. After saying I do, they were showered with dried petal confetti which they’d lovingly prepared in the run-up to the big day, with the help of Emily’s mum.
Once they’d shaken off some petals, Emily and Jake drove away in a Land Rover Defender and grabbed an umbrella for a short stroll through the garden. Between the showers, we captured some relaxed and natural portraits of them, with the walls and foliage of the garden as a dramatic backdrop. Before Jake’s dad announced them into the White Barn for their wedding breakfast, the pair stopped for a kiss outside – we love this shot of them at that moment, with their guests chatting at the tables before their arrival.
Wyresdale Park wedding photographers
As everyone sat down to enjoy a yummy meal, made by The Striped Kitchen, we were provided with our own tasty food to fuel us into the evening. Weddings at Wyresdale Park are run so efficiently, and always with a big smile. We love venues where the team care about weddings as much as they do here, it’s always a fun day for us and we love hearing from couples getting married here!
Having their speeches after the meal meant everyone was full, happy, and enjoying the atmosphere as they listened to some short, funny stories and emotional dedications. Then as everyone moved off to the Party Barn, we took Emily and Jake outside for golden hour photos in the grounds. The light was GORGEOUS, and they had some quiet moments together in the little wooden boat on the lake before we returned to cut their cake and have their first dance.
Emily had made their wedding cake and decorated it with flowers to match the décor. The couple and their families poured so much love and effort into the day, so capturing the whole vibe in their photos was really important. One of their top priorities was to capture the happiness of all the people they love, and that’s what we do best.
“…the genuine emotions of friends and family and capturing the day as it was. Bringing back the full emotion of the day like a snapshot in time…” Emily and Jake, Wyresdale Park wedding photography
A Ceilidh in the barn
Having met at University in Edinburgh, Emily and Jake had planned for a proper Scottish knees-up (not too high with the knees though if you are wearing a kilt, hey lads…?). Triple Scotch Ceilidh Band got everyone on the dancefloor, we have captured lots of documentary wedding photography in Scotland and the moves on display rivalled some of the best!
Jake and his dad had also rigged up a photo booth for the guests to take some fun snaps, so even when they weren’t dancing everyone was having a great time. It was a brilliant, relaxed, and perfectly run day, the team at Wyresdale are always on top form. Emily and Jake are the sweetest and most thoughtful pair, surrounded by huge amounts of love from their family and friends (and dogs!). We loved this wedding, and telling their story. Congratulations you two!
More about Wyresdale Park
If you want a bit more info on Wyresdale Park, check out their website or visit the venue on one of their open days, it’s well worth the trip! We’ve also gathered some info here, along with a few photos of what we think makes this place so special from weddings we have captured there.
Unique, flexible space
Weddings at Wyresdale Park have the use of three barns, set alongside a Gothic revival hall and surrounded by woodland, a lake, and even a glamping orchard! There’s so much space, and it’s been cleverly divided to make it flexible, welcoming, and cosy all year round.
The White Barn
The White Barn has huge doors, timber beams, a mezzanine and neutral white walls (the clue is in the name!), making it the ideal space to decorate to your tastes and suit any style of wedding. Also called the Dining barn, this is where your wedding breakfast and drinks will take place at Wyresdale, and it can be set up with round tables or banquet-style seating for a super social gathering. The stairs into the barn provide a dramatic entrance too!
The Ceremony Barn
The Ceremony Barn has space for up to 140 guests to join you and witness the big moment! Bright, neutral walls and stone floors make it super versatile for styling, and the rustic log burner can create a cosy atmosphere for winter weddings.
The Party Barn
The Party Barn is where it’s at for your evening celebrations. Linked with the tractor barn, stone courtyard and bar, this gives you loads of space for everyone to relax, party, chat, and enjoy the night. There’s even a lit stage and THREE disco balls, the ultimate party zone!
The Atrium
The Atrium has been carefully restored with a glass ceiling and huge doors, offering shelter from the elements whilst also keeping a connection with the surrounding grounds and starry skies. It’s one of the things we love about Wyresdale Park wedding photography, they’ve thought of everything and created spaces for weddings in all seasons.
The Grounds
The grounds are full of trees, flowers, and beautiful stone features. With the bonus of a gorgeous lake providing a serene setting for photos, and a lovely place to wander in the evening or perhaps on your first morning as married people!
The onsite accommodation
The onsite accommodation here is awesome and SO varied. You can turn your wedding into a full weekend extravaganza and have room for everyone to stay. From the luxurious manor house, the wooden lodge, and Keeper’s cottage to the boho-style glamping yurts and The Nook in the orchard, your wedding weekend can become a full-scale retreat (and treat!) for your family and friends.
